Application of Diverse Metaphorical Models in Mass Media Articles Devoted to Russian Domestic Policy
P. 87–101.
In press
The present article investigates the application of metaphorical models in mass media articles devoted to Russian domestic policy and aims at revealing source domains that can be used for mapping onto a target source, i.e. the political situation in Russia. We argue that the choice of metaphorical concepts employed in analytic articles is predetermined by newsworthy events. As a result of the analysis of mass media articles the following source domains have been revealed: war, medicine, and theatre. These metaphorical concepts are characterized in terms of their constituents – metaphorical models.
