Characteristics of Cybersquatting as a new threat of the 21st century

The article is devoted to the analysis of cybersquatting, which is a unique phenomenon of the 21st century, as well as to the peculiarities of legal regulation and criminological approaches to countering this phenomenon on the territory of various states. The reasons for the elevation of cases of cybersquatting are analyzed and the factors that determine the potential growth of this phenomenon in the global Internet are identified. The authors suggest special measures to leverage typesquatting, as well as description of the main types of cybersquatting and their legal regulation in countries of hybrid legal systems.
