The paper examines the basic features of the emerging metamodern culture, outlines the main vectors of its development, defines the role of science in its advancement and describes some of the most relevant trends in the evolution of scientific knowledge. It considers the possibility of integrating the principles of romantic science into the contemporary scientific paradigm. It further identifies the origins of the romantic tradition, describes its research perspective, traces the dynamics of its development and reveals the principles which prove most relevant and heuristically promising for the metamodern culture, and ponders on its benefits for the Humanities in general and Linguistics in particular.
