The article puts forward the hypothesis that the episode of the A.N. Ostrovsky’s play “Without a Dowry” connected with the substitution of the inn named ‘Paris’ for the actual city of Paris may serve as a link between similar episodes in the legend about Pan Twardowsky and in M.A. Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. Similarities and differences between the three plots are analyzed. In addition to that, the article considers the issue of connection between this episode and — more broadly — the image of Robinson with the image of the main heroine of “Without a Dowry” — Larisa Ogudalova.
