The article shows that quantitative methods of text analysis have limited applicability for establishing or refuting the authenticity of texts included in the Platonic corpus. As K. Ritter saw at the end of the 19th century, stylistic proximity to authentic texts does not exclude forgery, and in general the methods of phylogical criticism allow only the rejection of authenticity, not its proof. On the other hand, individual locutions may suffice for this rejection, to which quantitative methods based on the most frequent vocabulary are insensitive. Finally, a dialog might behave anomalously in quantitative comparisons, but this alone does not make it suspect.
