The proposed article presents reflections on a new book by Professor V. K. Kantor "Russia as Destiny", dedicated to research in the field of philosophy of Russian culture. In the era of the prevailing value relativism and the "duality" of thought, the author sets himself a grand task – to preserve the real meaning of culture as much as possible. In contrast to the simulacra and sophisms that, according to Kantor, have filled the modern intellectual space, in his work he tries to recreate the lost culture of direct meanings, "when the word is God." One of the advantages of this book is connected with this – the directness of presentation, the utmost clarity of thought and the courage of the author not to hide behind the figures of the great, but to write on his own behalf. Relying mainly on Russian classical literature and the author's reconstruction of the philosophy of Russian history, V. K. Kantor, among others, puts forward the thesis that the true purpose, the destiny of Russia is to be a culture based on reason, the coordinates of which are set by Christian values. The author of the article focuses mainly on this provision of the book and subjects it to a critical analysis.
