The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Обнаружение двух новых RRAT на частоте 111 МГц

Астрономический журнал. 2023. Т. 100. № 6. С. 517–523.
Samodurov V., Тюльбашев С. А., Торопов М. О., Долгушев А. В., Орешко В. В., Логвиненко С. В.

At the LPA LPI radio telescope, a search was conducted for pulse signals in a specific area with declinations + 52° <δ< + 55°. The processing involved ten months of observations recorded in six frequency channels, each with a channel width of 415 kHz and a total bandwidth of 2.5 MHz. The analysis of the data revealed 22000 events, exhibiting a pronounced dispersion delay of signals over the frequency channels, which are indicative of pulsar pulses. These pulses were found to belong to four known pulsars and two new rotating radio transients (RRAT). Additional pulse search was carried out in 32-channel data with a channel width of 78 kHz. This led to the discovery of 8 pulses for the transient J0249+52 and 7 pulses for the transient J0744+55. No periodic emission of transients was detected. The analysis of the observations indicates a high probability that the identified RRATs are pulsars with nullings, where the fraction of nullings is greater than 99.9%.

On a Possible Method for Separating CO Lines from the Spectrum of the Cosmic Microwave Background
Malinovsky A. M., Пилипенко С. В., Mikhalchenko A. O. et al., Astronomy Reports 2026 Vol. 70 P. 1–6
Radiation from rotational transitions of CO molecules in distant galaxies creates a chaotic background with an intensity reaching 1000 Jy/sr at a wavelength of approximately 1 mm. This background will pose a serious problem, when measuring spectral distortions of the cosmic microwave background, in particular, the mu-distortion, which presumably has an intensity of less than ...

On smooth Fano threefolds with coregularity zero
Жакупов О. Б., European Journal of Mathematics 2025 Vol. 11 Article 84
We provide examples of smooth three-dimensional Fano complete intersections of degree 2, 4, 6, and 8 that have absolute coregularity 0. Considering the main theorem of Avilov, Loginov, and Przyjalkowski (CNTP 18:506–577, 2024) on the remaining 101 families of smooth Fano threefolds, our result implies that each family of smooth Fano threefolds has an element of absolute ...

Imprint of magnetic obliquity in apparent spin-down of radio pulsars
Biryukov A., Beskin G., Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 2023 Vol. 522 No. 4 P. 6258–6263
Numerical simulations predict that the spin-down rate of a single rotation-powered neutron star depends on the angle α between its spin and magnetic axes as $P\dot{P} \propto \mu ^2 (k_0 + k_1\sin ^2\alpha)$, where P is the star spin period, μ is its magnetic moment, while k0 ~ k1 ~ 1. Here, we describe a simple observational ...

Orthogonal pulsars as a key test for pulsar evolution
Novoselov E. M., Beskin V. S., Galishnikova A. K. et al., Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 2020 Vol. 494 No. 3 P. 3899–3911
At present, there is no direct information about evolution of inclination angle χ between magnetic and rotational axes in radio pulsars. As to theoretical models of pulsar evolution, they predict both the alignment, I.e. evolution of inclination angle χ to 0°, and its counter-alignment, I.e. evolution to 90°. In this paper, we demonstrate that the ...

Magnetic field decay in young radio pulsars
Igoshev A., Popov S., Astronomische Nachrichten 2021 Vol. 342 No. 1-2 P. 216–221
The role of magnetic field decay in normal radio pulsars is still debated. In this paper, we present results which demonstrate that an episode of magnetic field decay in hot young neutron stars can explain anomalous values of braking indices recently measured for more than a dozen of sources. It is enough to have few ...

Braking indices of young radio pulsars: theoretical perspective
Igoshev A., Popov S., Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 2020 Vol. 499 No. 2 P. 2826–2835
Recently, Parthsarathy et al. analysed long-term timing observations of 85 young radio pulsars. They found that 15 objects have absolute values of braking indices ranging ∼10–3000, far from the classical value n = 3. They also noted a mild correlation between measured value of n and characteristic age of a radio pulsar. In this article, we systematically ...
