The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Исследование эффективности работы медиамастерской при обучении студентов непрофильных специальностей

Вестник Кемеровского государственного университета культуры и искусств. 2022. № 58. С. 256–262.
Жуков А. Д.

The author of the article substantiates the necessity of teaching media literacy of students of non-core specialties by the current state of society, in which transitivity has become a permanent characteristic of all ongoing processes and phenomena. This significantly increases the value of the so-called soft skills, the most important of which are communication skills. For the formation of media literacy, the technology of a media workshop was chosen, which made it possible to focus on practice-oriented and student-oriented teaching methods in 4 key areas: critical analysis skills, creative and communication skills, as well as skills in the field of safety of using social networks. The key components of media competence have been identified. The learning outcomes are analyzed using empirical research methods - surveys and questionnaires. For a stricter interpretation of the answers, closed questions were used, for verification - open questions. The conclusion is made about the effectiveness of the author's innovative methodology.
