The article presents the history of the Longman dictionary that has become a bestseller all over the world. Revealing the translation of the lexicographic idea into practice, the author tells us about the scholarly disputes that accompanied the development of the principles of a new type of English dictionary.
Think and Practice has been specially developed by Russian authors Olimpiada Ivanova and Marina Shilovskaya to provide practice in Russian State Exam (RSE) for high school students (11th form). The book has twelve units for classroom and individual study similarly. Each unit provides extra practice of the vocabulary, grammar, language and exam skills needed to take the RSE in English.
Technology of electronic distance course development was created. This technology is useful for developing training tutorial of foreign languages. Firstly, it can be integrated into the LMS and can be used online as a web service. Secondly, it can be used as a standalone desktop tutorial. A helpful tool tip was added. The tip contains grammar information and English translation for each separated word in the tutorial. With the help of this technology there was created a distance course for Russian language as a foreign one. Additionally, on the basis of Russian National Corpus there was organized a tool for search and extraction of actual sentences with examples of word usage.

The article covers teaching oral professional communication in a foreign language in the form of negotiations and developing respective skills in the course of mastering most relevant vocabulary, grammar and syntax means that reflect the specifics of structuring the expressions by negotiation participants and that cause real difficulties for oral professional communication.
The paper is focused on the study of reaction of italian literature critics on the publication of the Boris Pasternak's novel "Doctor Jivago". The analysys of the book ""Doctor Jivago", Pasternak, 1958, Italy" (published in Russian language in "Reka vremen", 2012, in Moscow) is given. The papers of italian writers, critics and historians of literature, who reacted immediately upon the publication of the novel (A. Moravia, I. Calvino, F.Fortini, C. Cassola, C. Salinari ecc.) are studied and analised.
In the article the patterns of the realization of emotional utterances in dialogic and monologic speech are described. The author pays special attention to the characteristic features of the speech of a speaker feeling psychic tension and to the compositional-pragmatic peculiarities of dialogic and monologic text.
