Trends in indigenous psychology today: Russia

Grigoryan L., Eliseenko A.

In this first-ever addendum, IPB reports on indigenous psychology in Russia. Authors present an overview of five central principles which distinguish Russian psychology today, that are (1)The principle of psycho-physiological unity (2) The principle of development (3) The principle of historicism (4) The principle of unity of theory and practice (5) The principle of unity of consciousness and activity. Furthermore authors introduce two the most powerful psychological theories, ensuing from these principles: “The psychological theory of activity” (S.L.Rubinshtein,  A.N.Leont'ev) and “The concept of development of higher mental functions” (L.S.Vygotsky, A.R.Lurija).
