Концепция глобальной игры в обучении студентов иностранному языку
Abstract: The article attempts to consider a new approach to the use of the game method in teaching a foreign language. New technology is called a global game. A parallel is drawn up with the existing technology of gamification, as well as its fundamental differences from the concept of the global game.
The author draws attention to the energy intensity of preparing and conducting a global game, pointing out a number of circumstances that significantly affect the effectiveness of this technology. The most important condition for the success of the game is the personality of the teacher, who knows not only the foreign language itself, but also the profile of their students.
The article provides an example of constructing a plan for the global game, which is a chain of logically constructed and plot-related modules. Each thematic module includes a preparatory part, in which there is an acquaintance with the training material and its development, and a practical part in the form of a role-playing or case study. An important feature of this game, ensuring its globality, is the fixed role of students during the passage of all stages of the game. Promotions and demotions are also allowed, which is a more realistic equivalent of assessing students’ performance.
