Road Injuries Leading Cause of Death Among Men Aged 10 to 39
Worldwide, road injuries are the leading cause of death among males aged 10–39. An international team of researchers reached this conclusion as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023, analysing data from 204 countries between 1990 and 2023. Their findings have been published in The Lancet Public Health, with HSE University Professor Vasily Vlassov listed among the collaborators.

Cobordisms and Commutative Categorial Grammars

Journal of Cognitive Science. 2021. Vol. 22. No. 2. P. 68–91.
Sergey Slavnov

We propose a concrete surface representation of abstract categorial grammars in the category of word cobordisms or cowordisms
for short, which are certain bipartite graphs decorated withwords in a given alphabet, generalizing linear logic proof-nets.
We also introduce and study linear logic grammars, directly based on cobordisms and using classical multiplicative linear logic
as a typing system.

Poincaré series of valuations on functions over a subfield of complex numbers
Gusein-Zade S., Campillo A., Delgado F., Mathematische Zeitschrift 2026 Vol. 314 No. 1 P. 1–22
For a subfield $\K$ of the field $\C$ of complex numbers, we consider curve and divisorial valuations on the algebra $\K[[x,y]]$ of formal power series in two variables with the coefficients in $\K$. We compute the semigroup Poincar\'e series and the classical Poincar\'e series of a (discrete, rank one) valuation on it. ...

“快”之疾速义何时产生——兼论新义产生的判断标准
Qiang S., Linguistic Research 2025 No. 3 P. 76–85
The determination of new words and meanings is a key issue in lexical history studies. However, common reliance on identifying “the earliest examples” can be challenged by textual complexity and subjective disagreements. Focusing on the emergence of the FAST meaning of kuai (快), this study proposes criteria for identifying new meanings from the perspective of the lexical system. ...

Wave scattering by a sloping beach of an arbitrary angle. Revisited: regular solution
Mishuris G., Meylan M. H., Pelinovsky E., Journal of Fluid Mechanics 2026 Vol. 1045 Article A4
In this paper, we revisit the classic problem of a wave field on a sloping beach of an arbitrary angle and propose a general approach that allows the computation of regular solutions of the problem regardless of the angle. We use the Mellin-transform technique, reducing the problem to singular integral equations with fixed-point singularities of ...

Неканонические имена белого духовенства в истории русского языка
Budennaya E., Русская речь 2026 Т. 4 С. 57–78
This study analyzes non-calendar and hypocoristic Christian names within the Russian white clergy. It identifi es two active periods of name formation using Slavic hypocoristic suffi xes: the 11th — 14th centuries (peaking in the 12th) and the 16th — 17th centuries. The fi rst period is tied to the general adoption of Christian names, where diminutive forms acted ...

Гипокористические имена на -ец- в древнерусском языке
Budennaya E., Slovĕne 2026 Т. 1 С. 31–67
The article examines Old Russian anthroponyms with the suffix -ec-, originally conveying the meaning ‘less than X’. A diachronic corpus study of 11th–17th-century texts reveals that while this suffix lacked inherent pejorative connotations in Old Russian sources, contextual (adherent) pejoration is clearly observable. For pre-15th-century chronicles, two primary usage patterns are identified—1) characters with explicit negative evaluation, and 2) ...

Modulational Instability and Wave Dynamics in the Rotated Modified Gardner–Whitham Equation
Flamarion M. V., Pelinovsky E., Chaos, Solitons and Fractals 2026 Vol. 213 No. 2 Article 119245
This article concerns the study of modulational instability in the rotated-modified Gardner–Whitham (rmGW) equation. This model incorporates both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities, similarly to the Gardner equation, while also retaining the fully dispersive character of the Whitham equation together with a large-scale dispersive term analogous to that in the Ostrovsky equation. Using a classical multiple-scale asymptotic expansion, we ...

Making first order linear logic a generating grammar
Sergey Slavnov, Logical Methods in Computer Science 2023 Vol. 19 No. 4
It is known that different categorial grammars have surface representation in a fragment of first order multiplicative linear logic (MLL1). We show that the fragment of interest is equivalent to the recently introduced extended tensor type calculus (ETTC). ETTC is a calculus of specific typed terms, which represent tuples of strings, more precisely bipartite graphs ...

Language models for some extensions of the Lambek calculus
Kanovich M., Kuznetsov S., Scedrov A., Information and Computation 2022 Vol. 287 Article 104760
We investigate language interpretations of two extensions of the Lambek calculus: with additive conjunction and disjunction and with additive conjunction and the unit constant. For extensions with additive connectives, we show that conjunction and disjunction behave differently. Adding both of them leads to incompleteness due to the distributivity law. We show that with conjunction only ...

Linear logic in normed cones: probabilistic coherence spaces and beyond
Sergey Slavnov, Mathematical Structures in Computer Science 2021 Vol. 31 No. 5 P. 495–534
Ehrhard et al. (2018. Proceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages, POPL 2, Article 59.) proposed a model of probabilistic functional programming in a category of normed positive cones and stable measurable cone maps, which can be seen as a coordinate-free generalization of probabilistic coherence spaces (PCSs). However, unlike the case of PCSs, it remained unclear ...
