A conceptual model of human understanding of the surrounding world is considered. The role of personal meaning in understanding is revealed. Two aspects of understanding are discussed: the subject's understanding of the world around him and his assimilation of knowledge obtained from external sources. A conceptual model for understanding the content of education is presented. It is shown that in the process of mastering the content of school education, two
global forces that determine the development of understanding collide and interact: the loss of personal meaning and its transition to meaning and the formation of an individual, subjective picture of the world, the emerging personality.
