In this article the issue of the creative activities of young artists from Russia and China representing the new generation of the 21st century is emphasized in historiography for the first time. The analysis is based on the material, produced during a collaborative project which began in 2015. The project in question features both cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural approaches, that are essential for liberal education. For the first time in world culture, a history of one cultural space is being formed. In this space a new generation, which emphasizes its own identity, is acting, while challenging, feeling and recognizing its own 21st century. A renowned Professor of Peking University and art historian Peng Feng, contributes to a dialogue between Russian and Chinese artists regarding the nature of the modern Chinese art. Refs 19.
This paper addresses the issue of public cultural services management by the example of event organization in cultural institutions. The Night of Museums event has been held annually in St. Petersburg and attracted more than 100 000 visitors for its fifth edition in 2012. A multistage study on this event has been organized aiming at exploring the potential of the large-scale event in development of public cultural services management both from the side of audience and cultural entities. The findings of the study indicate audience development within the event, implementation of innovative solutions through application of creative methods by cultural institutions and develop recommendations for effective provision of public cultural services.
The practice of swapping pins among participants in the Olympic Games has a long history (at least 90 years). This practice includes all participants in the Games: athletes, journalists, TV reporters, technicians, spectators, and others. Although most of the participants in this practice change with each Olympic Games, the tradition persists. The main question posed in this article is as follows: What is the meaning of Olympic pin exchange for participants? The answer to this question will explain why this tradition has proven to be so sustainable and inclusive. This task is also connected with the problem of understanding of the role of Olympic pins as objects of material culture and as intermediaries between participants of the Olympic Games.
The article analyzes the phenomenon of folk museification recent Soviet past - the emergence of proactive thematic Internet resources and the "folk museum" dedicated to the nostalgic representation of Soviet everyday life of the late thaw and stagnation.
During the XXth century South Koreans art has being developing under the influence of Western art movements, first modernism and later postmodernism. Korean artists began to study western avant guard mevements in 1950s on a full scale. In 1960s they started to face the need to resolve the issue of finding national in arts, they started to combine traditional aesthetics with Western technology.
In the 1990s, after Koreans were allowed to visit foreigh contries, some artists went to study in the West, where they were swept by the wave of conceptual art and the ideas of postmodernism. This generation has brought Korean art to the world level. Over the past two decades, South Korea has made a breakthrough in the field of contemporary art, the country became one of the centers of Asian contemporary art. South Korean art is successfully integrated into the global art world. Artists speak on the general topics of the world art, such as, for example, the criticism of the consumer society and the prevailing stereotypes and people in today's global world. In this paper, taking as example ouvre of the most influential Korean artists we will see how today an issue expressing national ideas and aesthetics in arts is solved and what are the distinctive features of contemporary South Korean art.
The book is written by a group of researchers and students of the Higher School of Economics on the results of a three-year research project. It is dedicated to State Museum-reserve Tsaritsyno: a vibrant cultural space, in which different ideas and different concepts collide; that of history, culture, public space and its functions, norm, etc. Different logics of production of the atmosphere of the contemporary (post-Soviet , capital ) city intertwine there as well. The visitor of Tsaritsyno is the main protagonist of the book. This historic attraction works for him, and he himself defines and changes its content and the conditions for its development. The researchers addressed this contemporary visitor of Tsaritsyno more general theoretical and specific ethnographic questions. The book is illustrated by many photographs made by the participants of the project.
The Rohingya are one of the most persecuted religious ethnic minorities of the contemporary world. They have been persecuted in Myanmar since the post-coup military regime came to power in 1962. What explains this brutal pursuit of violence against a minority? In answering this question, I trace the genealogy and the ethnogenesis of the Rohingya in Myanmar in a longue durée through an analysis of extant data, both historical and contemporary, and I supplement it with an ethnographic study I conducted in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. I argue that the emergence of the Rohingya identity is constitutively related with the stateformation, war conquest, and power shifts in Myanmar during precolonial, colonial, and postcolonial times. I demonstrate how the post-coup state of Myanmar – in association with the religious civil society, led by a section of the majoritarian Theravada Buddhist Bamars – provoked religious and exclusivist nationalism and constructed the ‘Rohingya Muslims’ as the enemy ‘Other’. I demonstrate also how the democratization of Myanmar ironically exacerbated the problem. The Rohingya themselves – once alienated and un-imagined from the national space – embraced this identity of victimhood to design their resilient and oppositional disposition against an exclusivist state, which further politicized and reified the identity.
Research on Mental Health Literacy (MHL) has been growing internationally. However, the beliefs and knowledge of Ghanaians about specific mental disorders have yet to be explored. This vignette study was conducted to explore the relationships between religiosity, education, stigmatization, and MHL among Ghanaians using a sample of laypeople (N = 409). The adapted questionnaire presented two vignettes (depression and schizophrenia) about a hypothetical person. The results revealed that more participants were able to recognize depression (47.4%) than schizophrenia (15.9%). Religiosity was not significantly associated with recognition of mental disorders but was positively related with both social and personal stigma for depression, and negatively associated with personal and perceived stigma for schizophrenia. Moreover, education was found to relate positively with disorder recognition, and negatively with perceived stigma. Finally, perceived stigma was positively associated with disorder recognition, whereas personal stigma for schizophrenia related negatively to recognition of mental disorders. In conclusion, education but not religiosity predicted identification accuracy, but both predictors were associated with various forms of stigma. Findings from this study have implications for MHL and anti-stigma campaigns in Ghana and other developing countries in the region.
The book illustrates practices of Russian magistracy cases in regional and leading universities. The authors covered core issues, models and development points of the master's institute in Russia. Prospects for its development were also indicated. The paperwork presents the cases of graduate schools, magistracy design in the context of changing norms, rules and institutions at Russian universities. This research is the result of a net-team working in the project “The Birth of Russian Masters” (supporting by the Potanin Foundation). The publication can be recommended to specialists in the educational sciences, researchers of managerial practices at universities, teachers, employees related to the implementation of practical programs and a wide range of readers.

This article is talking about state management and cultural policy, their nature and content in term of the new tendency - development of postindustrial society. It mentioned here, that at the moment cultural policy is the base of regional political activity and that regions can get strong competitive advantage if they are able to implement cultural policy successfully. All these trends can produce elements of new economic development.
