The author gives recommendations on developing an effective model of management, building a decision-making system based on corporate policies and competing strategies of business units. It is shown that success of the companies can be determined not only by the use of effective techniques and new technologies, but also by adoption of management decisions of methodical nature. The importance of taking into account business peculiarities is demonstrated. Investment attractiveness of mineral assets is largely determined by the fundamentals of growth (stock levels, production and transport volumes, operating efficiency, size of cost of capital). Their value varies over time, but their role as the foundation remains.
The author regards the main principles of an overall method of assessing the investment attractiveness of IT-projects and underlines the diffusion of service-oriented architecture (SOA) at the moment. Among modern works taking SOA into consideration in the framework of the methodology of assessing information systems (IS) economic efficiency, he detaches the approach based on event-driven process chain (EPC) extension.
The method of rating scales comparison was presented at the paper. This approach fulfilled the beginning steps to the unified rating space creation.
The article familiarizes the reader with key ratings of corporate governance. It is concerned with the goals, specific features and methodology of such ratings as well as the availability of such ratings for Russian companies. The paper gives consideration to both commercial and research ratings. On basis of the analysis of existing ratings and research papers it is concluded that a scientifically substantiated algorithm for a corporate governance rating has not yet been created.

Smoking is a problem, bringing signifi cant social and economic costs to Russiansociety. However, ratifi cation of the World health organization Framework conventionon tobacco control makes it possible to improve Russian legislation accordingto the international standards. So, I describe some measures that should be taken bythe Russian authorities in the nearest future, and I examine their effi ciency. By studyingthe international evidence I analyze the impact of the smoke-free areas, advertisementand sponsorship bans, tax increases, etc. on the prevalence of smoking, cigaretteconsumption and some other indicators. I also investigate the obstacles confrontingthe Russian authorities when they introduce new policy measures and the public attitudetowards these measures. I conclude that there is a number of easy-to-implementanti-smoking activities that need no fi nancial resources but only a political will.
One of the most important indicators of company's success is the increase of its value. The article investigates traditional methods of company's value assessment and the evidence that the application of these methods is incorrect in the new stage of economy. So it is necessary to create a new method of valuation based on the new main sources of company's success that is its intellectual capital.
