The article focuses on the study of the onym as a cognitive stimulus that facilitates the decoding of the language of urban space across two ethnic groups. The research is grounded in the analysis of results from an onomastic associative experiment, aimed at identifying the dominant types of associative responses to anthroponyms, oikodonyms, hodonyms, and restoronyms in St. Petersburg and Vienna. The identified responses reflect the respondents' mental onomasticon.

Unlike many other Turkic languages, Balkar normally demonstrates obligatory subject-verb
number agreement in finite clauses with 3rd person subjects: when a subject is plural-marked,
so is the verb. However, there are cases when the subject is not overtly plural-marked, but the
verb can be. We argue for an account where such facts are not reduced to any form ...

The article examines Old Russian anthroponyms with the suffix -ec-, originally conveying the meaning ‘less than X’. A diachronic corpus study of

connotations in Old Russian sources, contextual (adherent) pejoration is clearly
observable. For pre-15th-century chronicles, two primary usage patterns are
identified—1) characters with explicit negative evaluation, and 2) ...
