The aim of the article is to analyze pejorativity as a linguistic category. The objectives are to single out criteria for pejorativity, to examine the ways of pejorativity manifestation by phraseology in the Chinese language. The following methods have been used in the study: description, classification and analysis. The research resulted in the micro field of pejorative phraseological units showing what personal qualities and features of human behavior are negatively evaluated in the Chinese society.
