Despite the regulator's desire to limit loans to consumers with high debt burdens, the client base and portfolio of the microfinance segment continue to grow. Online channels for attracting clients and remote loan issuance are the main growth driver and account for more than 90% of issuances in the payday loan segment and 80% in the installment loan segment. A repeated study of online applications from the largest MFIs shows unexpected results.
