As part of the program for studying online applications for financial products, online questionnaires were filled out at the 10 largest microfinance companies in Russia . For the first time, the features of SMS spam mailings after visiting websites and filling out online applications for microloans were studied, and a significant amount of spam was identified . We analyzed 368 unwanted SMS messages received within 30 days after filling out online applications and identified the main patterns of such messages . Groups of main potential beneficiaries of the results of such mailings have been identified . Based on the results of the study, proposals were made for self-regulatory organizations and the regulator to reduce unwanted mailings, and promising research topics were outlined in terms of reducing and preventing SMS spam.
