EmoSense at SemEval-2019 Task 3: Bidirectional LSTM Network for Contextual Emotion Detection in Textual Conversations
P. 210-214.
Smetanin S.
In this paper, we describe a deep-learning system for emotion detection in textual conversations that participated in SemEval-2019 Task 3 “EmoContext”. We designed a specific architecture of bidirectional LSTM which allows not only to learn semantic and sentiment feature representation, but also to capture user-specific conversation features. To fine-tune word embeddings using distant supervision we additionally collected a significant amount of emotional texts. The system achieved 72.59% micro-average F1 score for emotion classes on the test dataset, thereby significantly outperforming the officially-released baseline. Word embeddings and the source code were released for the research community.

Policymakers and researchers worldwide are interested in measuring the subjective well-being (SWB) of populations. In recent years, new approaches to measuring SWB have begun to appear, using digital traces as the main source of information, and show potential to overcome the shortcomings of traditional survey-based methods. In this paper, we propose the formal model for ...

In the experimental study, the results of three different approaches to the evaluation of the tonality of literary texts are compared: dictionary-based, machine learning, and distributional semantics. The material for analysis was a selection of 210 stories by Russian writers from the first three decades of the 20th century. The research showed that the correlation ...

This paper provides an alternative method to extracting object-based sentiment in text messages, based on modified method previously proposed by Mingbo [8], in which we first parse the syntax, and then correlate the sentiment with the object of analysis (also referred to as entity by some, therefore, used in this article interchangeably). Sentiment analysis has become a powerful tool in processing and analysing expressed opinions on a large scale. While the application of sentiment analysis on English-language content has been widely examined, the applications on the Russian language remains not as well-studied. In this survey, we comprehensively reviewed the applications of sentiment analysis of Russian-language content and ...

Polypharmacy refers to the administration of multiple drugs on a daily basis. It has demonstrated effectiveness in treating many complex diseases , but it has a higher risk of adverse drug reactions. Hence, the prediction of polypharmacy side effects is an essential step in drug testing, especially for new drugs. This paper shows that the ...

In this concept paper, we explore some of the aspects of quality of continuous learning artificial intelligence systems as they interact with and influence their environment. We study an important problem of implicit feedback loops that occurs in recommendation systems, web bulletins and price estimation systems. We demonstrate how feedback loops intervene with user behavior ...
