Decolonizing politics: an introduction
In an era defined by the Anthropocene, globalization, the liberal world order, and national sovereignty, the idea of a world community continues to face challenges. Chief along them is the challenge of understanding the sordid history of humanity. For academics and intellectuals, this means facing up to our collective responsibility in justifying, excusing and creating the ideological foundations of the dynamics of power that fed that violent and unfair history. Robbie Shilliam’s Decolonizing Politics: An Introduction is a historical and philosophical study which explores the roles played by race, racism, ethnicity, migration, ethno-nationalism and colonialism in the birth of political science and international relations. The author had explored similar problems in his previous book Race and the Undeserving Poor: From Abolition to Brexit (2019)
