The article proposes a typology of sociological sample surveys on consumption. It provides a detailed description of 106 databases by their geographic coverage, time frame, institutional affiliation, access to data, sampling and data collection methodology, and thematic content. Among the reviewed databases, six main types of surveys are distinguished: 1) household economic surveys; 2) consumer marketing surveys; 3) consumer sentiment indices; 4) household time budget surveys; 5) one-off thematic studies in the field of consumption; 6) repositories of quantitative and qualitative data in the field of consumption. The identified types of surveys are described by the following characteristics: topics covered by studies of this type, institutional affiliation, type of sample and data collection, access mode, possibilities of enrichment with other types of data, advantages and disadvantages when used by academic researchers. The online appendix offers a complete table-navigator for the surveys included in the review.
