The introduction of digital technologies into the educational process opens up new opportunities, while exacerbating the problems of violating the norms of academic integrity. Proctoring as a control system does not always effectively cope with the task of ensuring compliance with these standards. The research was aimed at studying the attitude of students to the online exam with proctoring in a foreign language. The authors conducted a survey among first-year students of the HSE University, which allowed them to determine to what extent this exam format became familiar and to assess the attitude towards proctoring as a means of monitoring compliance with academic integrity. The study analyzed the difficulties faced by students when taking online exams. The survey results showed that the main obstacles are the unstable operation of the online platform and Internet connection failures. Also, some students note the lack of comfortable living conditions for the exam in an online format. However, some respondents do not feel anxious when taking face-to-face exams and express a preference for this format. Nevertheless, a significant part of the respondents would still prefer to take exams offline. It was found that most students are aware of the consequences of cheating on online exams, which underlines the urgency of the task of informing all students about the norms of academic integrity and their responsibility to comply with them. In general, the study provided useful information about the difficulties students face when taking online exams, as well as their preferences regarding the exam format. These results can be useful for improving the organization and conduct of online exams, as well as creating a more comfortable environment for students and increasing motivation to comply with the norms of academic integrity.
