Личностный потенциал: оптика психологии
The paper considers the concept of personal potential (LP), introduced by the author to designate a system of psychological characteristics of a person that are important for the successful solution of life tasks. The personal potential as the core of the personality is that in it, thanks to which it is able to function as an autonomous subject, not following exclusively internal impulses or pressures of the external environment, to pave its indirect path in a changing world, guided by its goals and meanings. Personal potential is understood in this approach as the potential of self-regulation. The essence of self-regulation as a general explanatory principle of the activity of living and quasi-living systems is that the actions of the subject on the way to the goal are not set in advance and are not programmed in detail, but are continuously corrected under the influence of feedbacks that he receives, information about whether he is approaching the desired or moving away from it. Thus, LP includes those personal characteristics due to which the subject can successfully carry out the functions of self-regulation. LP is also understood as a systemic organization of psychological resources of the individual, on which it depends in a decisive way whether the subject himself will be the beneficiary of his own human potential resources, whether he will be able to put them at the service of his own autonomous motives and goal-setting, laying an independent trajectory in a changeable environment, or will be an inert performer of uncontrolled impulses, someone else’s will and pressure from external circumstances. A person as a carrier of personal potential disposes of himself as a carrier of resources, or as an element of human capital. The three main substructures and functions of the LP include self-determination – orientation in a situation of uncertainty, weighing alternatives and choosing goals and priorities, achievement – paving the optimal path to the goal based on available resources, and preservation – evasion and protection from external threats and pressures that seek to disrupt the plans of the subject, force him to change.
