At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

When universal machine learning models fail in capacitance prediction for carbon-based supercapacitors: Leakage-aware validation and electrolyte screening
Makarov D. M., Kalikin N., Fashchevsky K. A. et al., Electrochimica Acta 2026 Vol. 579 Article 150159
Machine learning (ML) has become a powerful tool for accelerating the development of carbon-based supercapacitors; however, most published models assume that a single predictive framework can describe both conventional porous carbons and hybrid carbon electrodes. Here, we test this assumption using a comprehensive benchmark dataset and an extended literature-curated dataset enriched with synthesis- and electrolyte-related descriptors. Three ML algorithms ...

Advances in colloidal anisotropic nanocrystals for high-efficiency light-emitting diodes
Zhukov A., Chen F., Zeng Y. et al., Nanoscale 2026 Vol. 18 No. 36 P. 19223–19253
Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals have emerged as promising materials for next-generation light-emitting diodes (LEDs) owing to their solution processability, tunable emission wavelengths, narrow emission linewidths, and high photoluminescence quantum yields. Among them, anisotropic nanocrystals, including one-dimensional nanorods (NRs) and two-dimensional nanoplatelets (NPLs), offer additional opportunities for controlling transition dipole moment orientation and light out-coupling efficiency. These ...

Effect of the hydrogen bond donor nature on the extraction ability of a tributyl phosphate-based deep eutectic solvent
Мальцева В. Е., Ananyev I., Milevskii N. et al., Molecular Systems Design and Engineering 2026 Vol. 11 No. 7 P. 691–704
The use of hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as extractants for metal ion separation is largely due to the ease of their preparation and the possibility of modifying them depending on the composition of the metal mixture to be separated. However, the most common approach to DES modification involves the replacement of the extractant, while ...

Thermodynamic Stabilization of PbS Quantum Dots for High-Performance Short-Wave Infrared Photodetection
Li Y., Han J., Zaman N. et al., ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces 2026 Vol. 18 No. 39 P. 54241–54251
The development of lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dot (QD) photodetectors for short-wave infrared (SWIR) applications has been fundamentally limited by the thermodynamic instability of large PbS QD facets, which leads to aggregation and epitaxial fusion. In this work, robust thermodynamic stabilization was achieved by introducing methylammonium chloride (MACl) in PbS QD surface passivation, as validated ...

Cu(I) acetylide clusters decorated with pyridylphosphine ligands: structural diversity, cuprophilic interactions and phosphorescence properties
Baranov A., Bagryanskaya I., Novikov A. et al., Inorganic Chemistry Communications 2026 Vol. 189 Article 116670
The reaction of copper(I) phenylacetylide [PhC ≡ CCu]n with the 2-pyridylphosphines (tBu2PyP and Ph2PyP) offers a straightforward route to structurally diverse clusters. With tBu2PyP, a trinuclear cluster [Cu3(C ≡ CPh)3(tBu2PyP)3] featuring a Cu3 triangular was isolated. Surprisingly, the reaction of [PhC ≡ CCu]n with Ph2PyP yields two isomeric clusters [Cu4(C ≡ CPh)4(Ph2PyP)4] with tetrahedral or zigzag-arranged Cu4 cores. Upon prolonged storage in acetonitrile, the tetrahedral Cu4 cluster converts to ...

Dipolar [3+2] Cycloaddition of Nitrones to 3-Aroylpyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzothiazine-1,2,4-triones
Khramtsova E. E., A. S. Novikov, Dmitriev M. V., Russian Journal of Organic Chemistry 2026 Vol. 62 Article 12
The dipolar [3+2]-cycloaddition reactions of 3-aroylpyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzothiazine-1,2,4-triones with diarylnitrones lead to the formation of benzo[b]isoxazolo[5',4':2,3]pyrrolo[1,2-d][1,4]thiazines. The reac- tion proceeds stereoselectively to form exclusively the (2aS*,3R*,5aS*) diastereomers. Density functional theory computations for the model reaction showed that the (2aS*,3R*,5aS*) diastereomers are both kinetically and thermodynamically preferred over the alternative (2aS*,3S*,5aS*) diastereomers. At room temperature in solution, the ...
