This article examines the interactions between the Russian émigré Eurasianist movement and
the Czechoslovak scholarly community from the 1920s to the 1950s. On the example of the
Eurasianist ideologist Petr Nikolaevich Savitskii’s writings and personal connections it is
argued that Russian émigrés were not isolated from their environment but actively participated
in the intellectual life of their host country. The article shows that not only did Czechoslovak
scholars express considerable interest in Eurasianist ideas, but that Savitskii’s residence in
Czechoslovakia significantly influenced his life and scholarly work.
