‘This Format Turned Each Presentation Into a Collaborative Effort to Assess the Robustness of the Study
On October 16, 2026, HSE ICEF hosted the Eighth International Conference on Applied Economics. Held fully on-site, the conference brought researchers from HSE University, the New Economic School, Wuhan University, and Shandong University together in Moscow. The programme was organised around three overarching themes— ‘Environment, Resources and Policy,’ ‘Migration, Labour, and Communication,’ and ‘Consumption, Behaviour, and Climate—offering an opportunity to see how similar economic mechanisms operate in China, Pakistan, the United States, and Russia.

This article examines the impact of cultural globalization on social institutions in Russia. Social institutions, such as education, healthcare, and the legal system, are crucial for governing social behavior and providing services to the public. In Russia, these institutions are largely controlled by the state, but private organizations also play a role in providing social services. Cultural globalization refers to the spread of cultural values, practices, and products across national borders. The article explores how cultural globalization has influenced social institutions in Russia, particularly in education, where Western-style education methods have become more widely accepted. The article also discusses the role of social institutions in shaping cultural identity in Russia and the challenges and opportunities presented by cultural globalization for these institutions. Overall, the article offers a comprehensive analysis of the complex relationship between social institutions and cultural globalization in Russia.
