The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Роли локальной идентичности в сопротивлении реновации: кейс района Свиблово в Москве

Городские исследования и практики. 2023. Т. 7. № 4. С. 68–86.
Pereyaslavtsev D.

This paper explores the effects place image has on the place identity of residents of Sviblovo district in Moscow protesting the renovation program. Sviblovo was chosen as an example because of the abundant protests against Moscow’s renovation project from 2017 to this day. The main methodology used is the semantic analysis of social network and petition texts using NLP algorithms. The patterns observed are then supported with mass media and other research material. The results show a correlation between urban conflicts and place image mobilization in the texts and everyday speech of protesters. For example, a place is more frequently described in terms of its natural or constructed features, when the same group of images were used to defend the place in urban protest activities. The patterns can also be seen in a retrospective analysis of the everyday communication of Sviblovo residents and other urban conflicts that took place in the district. Further research which includes a larger sample of districts is needed in order to confirm the findings.

A textual fingerprint learning model to detect fake information spreaders in social networks
Behzadidoost R., Neurocomputing 2025 Vol. 665 P. 1–21
While earlier research has focused on detecting misinformation content, identifying the users who spread it, referred to in this paper as fake information spreaders, remains a relatively new challenge. These users deliberately mix true and false information, making detection more difficult. This paper proposes a textual fingerprint learning model to detect fake information spreaders. The ...

Bushina E., Kornilova O., Kovaleva N., RUDN Journal of Psychology and Pedagogics 2024 Vol. 21 No. 2 P. 427–444
Intercultural interaction in the post-Soviet space is determined by several factors, including: the number of Russians in a given country; the country’s internal policy regarding the Russian culture and language (which determines the nature of intercultural contacts), as well as cultural distance and the degree of similarity between groups. The authors of this article conducted ...

SynEL: A synthetic benchmark for entity linking
Karpov I., Kirillovich A., Goncharova E. et al., Plos One 2026 Vol. 21 No. 1 Article e0339468
Large language models (LLMs) offer significant potential for constructing commonsense knowledge graphs from text, demonstrating adaptability across diverse domains. However, their effectiveness varies significantly with domain-specific language, highlighting a critical need for specialized benchmarks to assess and optimize knowledge graph construction sub-tasks like named entity recognition, relation extraction, and entity linking. Currently, domain-specific benchmarks are ...
