The study explores the G20 member states' energy policy in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. The article is based on researching the G20 states' compliance assessment in the aftermath of the 2020 Riyadh summit. We have found several methodological inaccuracies in the assessment report prepared by the University of Toronto and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. We also determine the differences between the developing and developed countries' policies in SDG 7 fulfilment during the crisis.
