Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

Лингвосинергетика: Quo vadis?

С. 26–36.
Милостивая А. И.

This article analyzes modern linguistic synergetics’ concepts to identify this discipline's main ways and prospects in scientific episteme. The author focuses on the paradigm status and explanatory potential of lingua-synergetic studies. Data for this investigation consists of scientific articles, dissertations and monographs, which set out various versions of the synergistic interpretation of speech activity.  As a result of the study, we conclude about the status formation for independent research paradigm in linguistic synergetics, aimed at characterizing the object of linguistic reflection multidimensionality as well as the emergent nature of meaning and form construction in the text as an anthropocentric and at the same time natural object while the complex assembles with subsequent design integrity of the linguistic phenomenon from the simple.  At the same time, the explanatory potential of linguistic synergetics we examine in its correlation with the methods of this discipline used within various scientific schools: with the method of positional analysis and of comparing the symmetry/asymmetry/ dissymmetry of textual and/or extralinguistic elements. In addition, the article attempts to analyze the areal distribution of linguistic synergetics studies and concludes that they are concentrated in Eastern European countries mainly.

Язык и гендер: лингвистические, социальные и этические парадоксы инклюзивной коммуникации
Gritsenko E., Russian Journal of Linguistics 2026 Т. 30 № 1 С. 55–81
Contemporary scholarly discourse on gender-inclusive communication remains predominantly descriptive, often avoiding a systematic critical analysis of its internal contradictions and social consequences. However, the growing social tension around new linguistic norms, their ideologization, and direct impact on public institutions demand unbiased examination. The aim of this article is to identify and analyze the key paradoxes ...

On Non-Symmetric Forms of Time-Varying Autocorrelation Function in the Analysis of Cyclostationary Processes
Shevgunov T., , in: 2024 Systems of signals generating and processing in the field of on board communications.: IEEE, 2024. P. 1–5.
The paper is aimed at investigating the difference between different forms of time-varying autocorrelation function (TVACF) used for the quantitative expression of the second-order statistical properties exhibiting by non-stationary random processes. The generalized form of TVACF is proposed where the position of the current time moment can be set by means of additional parameter. The ...

The effect of induced flow on the water wave skewness
Slunyaev A., Kokorina A., Physics of Fluids 2025 Vol. 37 No. 8 Article 087192
Nonlinear wave-induced perturbations are discussed within the framework of the second-order theory. Due to the slow attenuation of the long perturbations with depth, they modulate motions beneath surface waves down to the bottom and can strongly affect the wave statistics. The disturbance which corresponds to the second harmonic, at a sufficient depth, inverses the phase, thereby ...

Language is a uniquely human cognitive function, which greatly defines and determines our psychological and social traits. Despite the importance of language and speech, they remain among the least understood human cognitive processes, and their neurobiological underpinnings are still poorly understood. In recent decades, an immense body of diverse data illuminating the neural bases of language ...

The primary motor cortex takes part in various stages of language learning accompanied by human motor activity. However, previous studies of causal relationships between the activation of primary motor cortex and efficiency of language tasks reveal contradictory results, likely due to diverging learning environments and specific movement patterns required by different experimental designs. The goal ...
