The authors deliberate on the current trend in education development, when the process of education, upbringing and general development is no longer tied exclusively to school desks and prescribed curricula, when education goes beyond the school and the city becomes an educational space. Such practices are valuable not only for the development of participants of the educational process, but they also improve the city itself. The article presents the results of a small analytical study of the practice of the “Museums. Parks. Estates” academic competition, run in Moscow since 2013. The potentials and limitations of this practice are highlighted.
