The article attempts to correlate the rule on the limited liability of heirs for the debts of the testator with the general provisions on the obligations of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. The author also analyzes the amendments to the bankruptcy legislation that allowed the bankruptcy procedure of the hereditary mass, and determines the direction of development of the law in terms of regulating out-of-court interaction of heirs and creditors.
