Improvement in Psychological Well-Being and Changes in Brain and Autonomic Nervous System Activity in Novices After Taoist Meditation Training
P. 64–67.

There is a growing body of scientific evidence that supports positive effects of mindfulness practices on physical and mental health. To further extend the knowledge about the effects of meditation that occur during and after meditation practice, this study examined changes in physiological and brain activity parameters following 8 weeks of meditation training (2 sessions per week). The current study also sought to investigate whether an individual's physiological approach could be detected in the early stages of meditation training, as we are considering the development of a device that could assist individuals in the early stages of their meditative practice.

This work aims to investigate the impact of a transformational psychological game on changes in psychological parameters of coping behavior and to identify electrophysiological correlates, taking into account the age characteristics of the subjects. The intervention was carried out using the transformational psychological game "Shambhala – 5" (by T.E. Sizikova). The article analyzes psychologist views on transformation, ...

Inroduction:
Source credibility is fundamental to how medical information is processed, yet the underlying neurocognitive mechanisms remain poorly understood. We investigated how two credibility cues — a doctor’s expertise (years of work experience) and aggregate patient ratings (star ratings) — modulate brain responses to veracity cues (‘True’ vs. ‘False’) presented after health- related headlines.
Methods:
We recorded EEG from ...

Receptive speech is the ability to understand speech addressed to a person. It is a crucial process for a child’s cognitive development. We examine the relationship between receptive speech and neural tracking of natural speech in 52 children aged 3–8 years to infer the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying speech development. We registered a 32-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) ...

Introduction:
Understanding how we perceive and interpret the movements of other living beings is fundamental to social interaction, survival, and navigating our dynamic environment. Traditional studies of biological motion perception have predominantly employed simplified stimuli, such as point-light displays, which sacrifice ecological validity for experimental control.
Methods:
To overcome this limitation, we created a novel stimulus set featuring ...

Previous EEG studies demonstrated ample evidence for a major influence of morphological regularity on inflectional processing. However, regularity effects may be attributed to different properties of inflectional classes: to type frequency, to productivity, or to defaultness (assumed only in some models). In many languages, these factors cannot be teased apart, but it is possible in ...

This study aimed to investigate resting-state neural correlates of math anxiety in high school students using a graph-theoretical approach. Sixty 10th-grade students (35 females; mean age = 16.15 years) participated in the study. Resting-state EEG data were acquired using a 32-channel wireless dry-sensor system (Cognionics Quick-32 series). Math anxiety was assessed using the Abbreviated Math Anxiety Scale. Mean ...

Hypergraphs provide a natural framework for representing neurophysiological interactions distributed across sets of sensors. A key methodological question is how hyperedges should be defined from frequency-resolved electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography (EEG/MEG) data. We demonstrate a construction strategy in which hyperedges are obtained from canonical coherence (caCOH), an extension of coherence that estimates coupling between multidimensional signal spaces. To ...

EEG recordings are often affected by the loss or corruption of individual channels due to electrode detachment, poor scalp contact, or external interference. Such channels must be accurately reconstructed before further analysis. In this study, we investigate Next-Generation Reservoir Computing (NG-RC) as a data-driven approach for reconstructing corrupted EEG channels and compare its performance with ...

Musical training has a significant impact on brain organization, leading to functional and structural
adaptations that enhance auditory, visual, motor, and cognitive processes. This study investigates how
extensive musical training shapes functional brain connectivity by comparing professional musicians and
non-musicians. Using EEG phase-locking value (PLV) analysis, we examined neural synchronization across
alpha, beta, and gamma frequency ranges during music ...

Meditation offers a naturalistic paradigm for studying introspection, yet the neural dynamics of advanced tantric practices remain largely unexplored. Buddhist Highest Yoga Tantra (BHYT) comprises a sequence of eight dissolution stages culminating in the “clear light” state. We recorded EEG during eyes-closed BHYT meditation performed in monasteries and hermitages (51 sessions from 36 male practitioners; ...

Individuals raised in institutionalized care settings are more likely to demonstrate developmental deficits than those raised in biological families. One domain that is vulnerable to the impoverished environments characteristic of some institutionalized care facilities is language development. We used EEG to assess ERPs and source-localized event-related spectral perturbations (ERSPs) associated with semantic processing at different levels of picture-word conflict and low ...

This study investigates the relationship between distinct types of anxiety and cognitive performance, aiming to elucidate the underlying neural mechanisms involved. We present a multimodal dataset containing electroencephalography (EEG), electrocardiography (ECG), and video recordings from 49 participants. Each participant completed a single session lasting approximately 45 minutes. EEG data were recorded from ...

Introduction. Video games constitute a special form of digital media characterized by dynamic environments that respond to players’ actions and integrated algorithms. Within psychological research, video games offer better validity compared to traditional automated assessment systems, enabling a naturalistic investigation of various phenomena. Furthermore, video games shape mental processes. These features are widely exploited in international psychological research and are critical ...

Growing evidence suggests the specific systems for emotional information maintenance and processing in working memory, highlighting the role of cognitive domains in emotional awareness. The question of neural basis of social-emotional processing in working memory remains open. We hypothesized that the neural systems supporting working memory for emotional processing may rely on shared ‘core’ networks ...

However, the commonly used mu-rhythm experimental protocol, that requires following instructions, is challenging for children with motor and cognitive deficits.
