The article deals with peculiarities of the legal regulation of the economic sovereignty in the modern states. The special attention is given to the implementation of the “economic sovereignty” concept in the Constitutional Courts’ decisions. Such decisions help to understand the current trends of economic development, as well as to protect the rights and legal interests of citizens and businesses, and state under conditions of political and economic instability. The research shows that today there are two dangerous trends in constitutional regulation of economic sovereignty. On the one hand we may see uncontrolled globalization of economic relations, and on the other hand, the states try to protect national sovereignty. As a result of the research, it was concluded that economic sovereignty, endowed with constitutional and legal form, implies autonomy, which is not equal to isolation or autarky. It expresses the self-defense by states in modern conditions.
