Pocket Money, Personal Interest, and Family Practices: What Shapes Students Economic Literacy?
University students' economic literacy depends not only on their field of study but also on their interest in economics, the learning environment, and family financial practices. For example, students who received pocket money irregularly tend to perform better on economic literacy tests than their peers who received financial support on a regular basis. These findings come from a study conducted by HSE University involving more than 1,100 students from five Russian universities. The findings have been published in Cakrawala Pendidikan.

HSE Study Reveals Imbalance in the Generative AI Market
Researchers at HSE University analysed how effectively the global generative artificial intelligence market converts investment into real revenue, concluding that AI is currently developing faster than it is paying off. The results have been published in the journal Foresight and STI Governance.

Sustainable Treatment and Management of Sewage Sludge

Boca Raton : Taylor & Francis, 2023.
Dregulo A.

The use of thermochemical methods for the disposal of sewage sludge is becoming the main way to prevent environmental harm. This chapter discusses the main reasons why thermochemical methods become the optimal solution: the content of heavy metals in sewage sludge and the associated alkylation processes, the presence of pathogenic and specific microflora and the content of persistent organic pollutants. The basic technological schemes of combustion, pyrolysis and gasification of sewage sludge are considered separately. Comparative characteristics of technologies and devices (furnaces) for heat treatment of waste are discussed. The prospects of using the products of thermochemical treatment of sewage sludge for the commercialization of ash from the combustion of sewage sludge and the production of value-added products are considered. Ash and slag wastes contain a large amount of silicates; a similar elemental composition is available in the materials of the silicate industry, which means that there is a possibility of using ash in the production of glass materials. It becomes possible to use a new type of glass materials as thermal insulation materials. It is shown that the incineration of sewage sludge along with the incineration of a hard-to-recycle fraction of municipal solid waste can be organized into a closed-loop chain.

Sewage Sludge Treatment and Management
Dregulo A., Sun X., Manoj Kumar S. et al., , in: Sustainable Treatment and Management of Sewage Sludge.: Boca Raton: Taylor & Francis, 2023.
With the improvement of human life quality, sewage sludge (SS) production is increasing day by day, and its treatment is inevitable. As one of the by-products of sewage water treatment, SS contains a lot of pollutants. If the continuously produced sludge is not properly disposed and managed, it will cause great harm human existence. However, ...

Vulnerable sides of cities aiming for carbon neutrality: contribution of wastewater treatment plants and landfill sludge disposal to greenhouse gas emissions
Dregulo A., Environmental Science and Pollution Research 2026 Vol. 33 No. 8 P. 3252–3265
The present study focuses on greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater treatment and sewage sludge disposal at landfill. Traces of ammonium, dihydrosulfide, phenol, formaldehyde, various hydrocarbons, and mercaptans have been identified. The dynamics of these gases are especially intense during the purification process from grids to aerotanks. Methane concentrations fluctuated more than sixfold in the wastewater ...

Integrated Assessment of Groundwater Pollution from the Landfill of Sewage Sludge
Dregulo A., Bobylev N. G., Journal of Ecological Engineering 2021 Vol. 22 No. 1 P. 68–75
The purpose of this study was to assess the groundwater contamination from a sewage sludge landfill. The analysis was carried out in 2017 in accordance with the requirements of the national legislation for monitoring landfills and priority pollutants. The samples of groundwater from the landfill were taken from 25 observation wells, from depths of 45-60 ...
