The article discusses the main trends and challenges of labor migration in the US. The study is based on the study of legislative acts, official data of American statistics and other primary sources. For a long time, immigration has been the main source of population growth in the country. The article shows the evolution of migration legislation. The transformation of immigration flows, changes in the racial and ethnic structure are analyzed. Different categories of labor migrants are considered, including workers who come to the United States under temporary attraction programs; workers coming as permanent immigrants; illegal immigrants. Some key problems of labor migration are shown. The contribution of labor migrants to the development of the economy and intellectual potential of the United States is considered. The addition of foreign labor to the fight against the pandemic and its consequences is shown. The US experience is of practical interest for countries that attract migrant workers, in particular for Russia.
