This article discusses the place of thought disorders in contemporary psychiatric classification, as well as the approaches to their conceptualization and assessment, not just with the use of clinical methods, but also linguistics and behavioral psychology, including the possibility of automatization. We submit data pertaining to the standardized methods of studying thought disorders, which have been developed abroad, and the topicality of which in respect of the Russian population still needs to be determined.
