The article examines the value-semantic guidelines of the Russian-speaking youth of the CIS countries. The methodological tool of this research is the idea of the "man of culture". The conceptualization of the concept of "man of culture" is carried out. It is shown that the concept of "Man of Culture" cannot be reduced to a set of socially approved qualities. This concept represents the images of people personifying the values and ideals of culture, whose life and deeds determine the highest meanings of human life. Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Russian respondents took part in the study. Russian Russian foreign participants were students of universities with close cultural ties with the Russian Federation, studying the Russian language and Russian culture. The hierarchical structure of the images of a person of culture is empirically revealed. The image of a "man of culture" embodying the highest human qualities is formed on the basis of cultural patterns formed, first of all, by classical literature, as well as cinema. The results of the study of the value-semantic dominants and ethno-cultural features of the representation of the image of the "man of culture" in the minds of young people showed that the image of the "man of culture" reflects the main cultural trend characteristic of the community at a particular historical moment: what a person cares most about, what hopes for a positive future of his people are associated with. So for Armenian respondents it is the image of the defender of the nation, for respondents of Kazakhstan - the image of the educator, Kyrgyzstan - the creator, the creator, for Russia -the leader, the leader
