Sensors modelling for Servosila Engineer crawler robot in Webots simulator
P. 1–5.
Simulations became a convenient, easy and safe way to interact with a robot in a virtual world in order to reproduce complex tasks and environments, preliminary evaluate new concepts and algorithms instead of directly building complicated testing field constructions in real world. Yet, a simulation requires an adequate model of a robot that corresponds well to its hardware original. This paper presents an improved Webots simulation model of the Russian crawler-type robot Servosila Engineer. We extended a previously constructed model with sensors of the real robot and added connection to the Robot Operating System (ROS), while ROS/Webots connection was also improved for a greater convenience. © 2022 IEEE.

High-level simulation is a critical stage for optimizing Network-on-Chip (NoC) design, enabling a reduction in time and resources at subsequent development stages. Existing tools often possess limited configuration flexibility and support a narrow set of traffic models, which complicates the evaluation of networks specialized for specific applications. This paper investigates an approach to extending NoC ...

The primary requirement for a tracked vehicle simulation model used in the computer-based training simulators for the tracked vehicle and robot control is their operation in real or near-real time. This requirement is most often met by the significantly simplified kinematics and dynamics in the tracked running gear substructure interaction model. The paper describes an ...

Each region is characterized by unique development features that shape the future of its economy. The level of economic development of a region is determined by various conditions, such as the availability of natural resources, the availability of production facilities, the development of institutions and the social sphere, infrastructural security, and many others. Therefore, when ...

Digital human models (DHM) for virtual environments allow a cost-effective and reproducible evaluation of computer vision algorithms that are employed in robotics, e.g., human detection, tracking and following. Yet, many popular robotics simulators do not achieve a reasonable level of realism and diversity required to rigorously test such algorithms under varying conditions. This paper introduces ...

Computer simulations are growing in popularity in robotics research due to their near-zero cost of error and lower labor intensity. One of necessary components of a simulation, in addition to a robot model, is a model of a world in which the robot operates. While it is always possible to construct a world model manually, ...

Vision is one of the well-researched sensing abilities of robots. However, applying vision-based algorithms can be challenging when used in different environmental conditions. One such challenge in vision-based localization is dynamic lighting conditions. In this paper, we present a new Gazebo plugin that enables realistic illumination changes depending on a current Sun's position. A plugin's ...

The agricultural sector is undergoing a digital transformation due to modern automation, robotics, sensing, and simulation technologies. This research explores a use of digital human models (DHMs) in the Gazebo virtual environment to enhance agricultural workflows, improve human-robot interaction, and ensure safety. We propose a framework that models typical agricultural scenarios, such as field mapping, ...

Mobile robots are increasingly used to automate repetitive and labor-intensive tasks in environments such as hospitals, warehouses, offices, and manufacturing facilities. When working together, multiple robots can achieve greater efficiency by sharing workloads and coordinating complex tasks, which enables faster completion of large-scale operations. Managing such teams of robots, however, requires an intuitive system for ...

Carbon nanotube fibers (CNTFs) fabricated using a novel “wet-pulling” technique were evaluated for electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA). To enhance the sensitivity, we employed an electrochemical oxidation pretreatment and twisting of CNTFs and investigated the performance by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA). The synergetic effect of twisting and pre-oxidation boosted the sensitivity of modified ...

Modern map-dependent algorithms for mobile robot navigation typically overload a CPU and memory with a gradually increasing amount of environmental data. In contrast, Bug family local path planning algorithms operate without mapping and have significantly lower hardware requirements.
