Советский тыл в годы Великой Отечественной войны. Исследования о характере и эволюции мобилизационной системы
Российская история. 2022. № 3. С. 122–134.
The review article examines the modern historiography of the Soviet home front during the World War II. The focus is on the research of various aspects of the problem of the ultimate state of the Soviet mobilization system. Aimed at the over-intensive use of the country's resources in the interests of the front, the ultimate mobilization generated numerous contradictions that required prompt resolution. For this reason, its integral feature was a set of corrections, to which the system was subjected consciously (from above) or spontaneously (from below). It was in this altered state, which increased its effectiveness, that it ensured victory in the war and had a significant impact on the subsequent evolution of the USSR.

The Gulag as a system of terror and forced labor was the
cornerstone of Soviet mobilization efforts in the 1930s.
Paradoxically, during the war with Nazi Germany, the
Gulag’s capacities and economic significance did not grow,
but in fact declined, contrary to what one would expect. The
massive use of prisoners as a source for replenishing the
army and the huge ...
