Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Social Integration: At the Crossroads of Knowledge and Values
The International Laboratory for Social Integration Research (ILSIR) at HSE University studies the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and explores ways to help them participate fully in everyday life. To develop effective solutions, the laboratory’s researchers combine cutting-edge methods with practical fieldwork. In this interview with the HSE News Service, Laboratory Head Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova discusses the laboratory’s work.

Арктический поворот на восток: эволюция российско-китайского сотрудничества в регионе
Galimullin E. Z., Набиев Х. Х., Россия и современный мир 2024 Т. 4 № 125 С. 90–105
In recent decades, the Arctic region has undergone dramatic changes. Although it remained on the periphery of global politics for an extended period, it has increasingly drawn the attention of policymakers and the international community. This shift is attributable to various factors, including the impacts of climate change, the discovery of vast natural resource reserves, ...

Building trust: The costs and benefits of gradualism
Kartal M., Muller W., Tremewan J., Games and Economic Behavior 2021 Vol. 130 P. 258–275
We examine the prevalence of gradualist strategies and their effect on trust-building and economic gains in a setting with an infinite horizon, asymmetric information regarding the trustworthiness of receivers, and various levels of trust. The theoretical literature suggests that gradualist strategies mitigate asymmetric information problems and foster trust-building. However, we theoretically and experimentally show that ...

Potential functions for finding stable coalition structures
V. V. Gusev, Mazalov V. V., Operations Research Letters 2019 Vol. 47 No. 6 P. 478–482
The existence of a Nash-stable coalition structure in cooperative games with the Aumann–Dreze value is investigated. Using the framework of potential functions, it is proved that such a coalition structure exists in any cooperative game. In addition, a similar result is established for some linear values of the game, in particular, the Banzhaf value. For ...

Fiscal Federalism in a Monetary Union: The No-Cooperation Pitfall
Kempf H., Open Economies Review 2020
The relative merits in a monetary union of a fiscal federalism scheme and intergovernmental fiscal cooperation without a federal authority are assessed using a standard macroeconomic model commonly used for policy analysis. We show that it is impossible to conclude that one solution is always preferable to the other. The benefits from an extra instrument ...

Equilibrium and cooperation in repeated hierarchical games
Pankratova Y., Petrosyan L., В кн.: Lecture Notes in Computer ScienceVol. 11548.: Springer, 2019. С. 685–696.
In the paper, a two-level infinitely repeated hierarchical game with one player (center) C0 on the first level and S1...Sn subordinate players on the second is considered. On each stage of the game player C0 selects vector x=(x1....xn) from a given set X, in which each component represents a vector of resources delivered by C0 to one of the ...
