For the first time in the scientific literature the chapter analyzes in detail the origin of Bogdanov' s concept of world organizational dynamics (tectology). The chapter reconstructs Bogdanov's explanation of economic crises based on his system methodology . The elements of institutionalism in Bogdanov' s works on political economy and scientific organization of labor are explicated. The influence of Bogdanov' s organizational methodology on the "genetic" approach to planning and the Soviet industrialization debates of the 1920s is demonstrated
