HSE Researchers Make Aldehydes Perform Dual Function
Chemists from HSE University have discovered a way to carry out a reductive addition reaction without using an external reducing agent. Instead, the required 'resource' is supplied by the aldehyde itself, one of the reaction participants. This approach helps prevent unwanted side reactions, reduces toxicity, and simplifies the production and synthesis of organic molecules, including those used in the manufacture of medicines. The study has been published in Journal of Catalysis.

HSE Scientists Explain Why Findings in Autism Research Differ
Researchers from the Cognitive Health and Intelligence Centre at HSE University conducted the first-ever systematic review of studies on the specifics of emotion-from-motion perception in autism. Роль психических состояний в психосемантической оценке визуальных стимулов

Russian Journal of Education and Psychology. 2021. Т. 12. № 6. С. 201–219.
Киселева Н. А., Galyapina V. N.

Purpose. In the age of computer technology and the mass transition to online interaction during training and remote work, the study of psychological features of visual information processing is a trending topic. The purpose of this work is to study the relationship between respondents’ mental states with psychosomatic assessments of a visual stimulus. The novelty of the research lies in the establishment of the relationship between the characteristics of mental cognitive processes and emotional states of the respondents with the quality and severity of psychosemantic evaluation of the visual image. Method or methodology of the work. In a study conducted online on the 1KA platform with the participation of 737 people, A.O. Prokhorov’s method “Relief of mental state” was used, as well as psychosemantic differential adapted by the authors for assessing visual stimulus, and correlation and factor analysis. Results. The correlation between the peculiarities of mental processes and emotional states of the respondents and the nature of their evaluation of the visual stimulus was found. Namely: the higher the indicators of sensation, perception, imagination and the level of representations of the recipients and the more positive emotional states they experienced, the more positive psychosemantic characteristics they attributed to the visual stimulus. And vice versa, the lower the mental state indicators of the respondents, the more negative characteristics were assigned to the visual stimulus. Practical implications. The theoretical significance of the research lies in its contribution to the psychology of mental states, psychosemantics, psychology of art. The practical significance will lie in the use of the results in the areas of education, including online learning, design, advertising.
