Проблема пандемии COVID-19 в Королевстве Испания
Based on new sources, the report analyzes the strategy and tactics of the Pedro Sánchez administration in addressing the COVID-19 crisis. The problem is considered as a particular example of the PSOE leader developing mechanisms for dealing with an emergency in the context of the erosion of international rules and institutions, an impulse to maximize the sovereignty of states as a result of the closure of borders. The author assesses the degree of preparedness of the Spanish health care system for the start of a pandemic, highlighting both common European problems (the growth of elderly patients; the growth of chronic noncommunicable diseases; the growth of costs for the health care system), and specific, specific to this country. When analyzing the actions of the administration of Pedro Sanchez in the context of a pandemic, special attention is also paid to the party system, which is undergoing a new transformation (from an imperfect two-party system to a system of moderate pluralism) and the growth of so-called fake news as a direct companion of the COVID-19 pandemic, which largely influenced the reaction of the Spaniards to the decisions of the Prime Minister.
