The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Surface spin waves in coupled easy-axis antiferromagnetic films

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. 2019. Vol. 475. No. 476. P. 778–781.
Sharaevskaya A., Kalyabin D., Beginin E., Fetisov Y., Nikitov S.

We present results of studying properties of surface spin waves in vertically coupled antiferromagnetic films with easy-axis anisotropy. The dispersion curves and frequency region of the existence of the surface magnetostatic waves are obtained using theoretical model for different antiferromagnetic materials. This study was carried out by solving the dispersion relation for the surface magnetostatic waves. Behavior of two types of dispersion curves on the value of coupling parameter is investigated. We conclude, that results have potential applications for antiferromagnetic THz spintronics.

Temperature-driven charge transport in annealed CdSe/CdS nanoplatelets film
Smirnov A., Mantsevich V. N., Saitov S. R. et al., Journal of Applied Physics 2026 Vol. 139 Article 185702
This work presents a comprehensive investigation into the temperature-dependent thermally stimulated conductivity and photoconductivity of vacuum-annealed thin films based on core–shell CdSe/CdS nanoplatelets passivated with oleic acid ligands. Controlled thermal annealing under vacuum conditions leads to a substantial increase in both dark and photoinduced conductivity, which is primarily attributed to partial desorption of the ligands. ...

Plasmonic Au-Assisted g-C3N4/CeO2 Heterojunction for Enhanced Photocatalytic Breakdown of Organic Pollutants
The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters 2026 Vol. 17 No. 18 P. 5386–5394
We demonstrate and rationalize the effect of Au nanoparticles (NPs) on the hierarchical g-C3N4/CeO2 heterojunction. g-C3N4/CeO2 decorated with monodispersed plasmonic Au NPs was synthesized. Detailed analyses showed that CeO2 nanocubes and monodispersed Au NPs were evenly distributed over the 2D g-C3N4 surface, forming a robust interface enriched with abundant active sites. The structure enabled efficient separation of photogenerated charge ...

Perturbation theory for phase correlations of a light wave propagating in a turbulent medium
Kolokolov I., Lebedev V., Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics 2026 Vol. 113 Article 054117
We theoretically investigate the correlation functions of the phase of a light wave propagating through a turbulent medium. We use an equation for the logarithm of a wave packet envelope, which includes a secondorder nonlinear term. Based on this equation, we develop a diagrammatic technique to calculate corrections to the correlation function obtained in the linear approximation. We ...

Bright transient objects in different wave bands have been discovered in recent years. To explain these short (from ms to s), and very powerful events, different models, galactic and extragalactic, have been considered. One of the popular models is based on the suggestion of transformation of the magnetized plasma blob, presumably a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) shock wave, moving with relativistic ...

Room-temperature spin pumping from canted antiferromagnet α-Fe2O3
Gabrielyan D., Volkov D., Kozlova E. et al., Journal of Applied Physics 2024 Vol. 136 No. 8 Article 083902
Spin pumping from canted antiferromagnets is a cutting-edge topic in modern spintronics. The interest for fundamental and applied research that these materials arouse is related to their unusual structure, namely, with a small canting of the magnetic sublattices, which is explained by the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction. Through this effect, it becomes possible to experimentally study ...

Gabrielyan D. A., Volkov D. A., Kozlova E. E. et al., Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics 2024 Vol. 57 No. 30 Article 305003
Canted antiferromagnets offer great potential in fundamental research and for use in applications due to their unique properties. The presence of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI) leads to the existence of a weak ferromagnetic moment at room temperature. We study both theoretically and experimentally microwave spin pumping by a quasi-ferromagnetic mode from a canted easy plane antiferromagnet with weak ferromagnetism ...

Spin Pumping from Lu3Fe5O12
Volkov D. A., Gabrielyan D. A., Matveev A. A. et al., JETP Letters 2024 Vol. 119 No. 5 P. 357–362
Microwave spin pumping from ferromagnetic lutetium iron garnet (Lu3Fe5O12) has been theoretically and experimentally investigated. The magnetization vector precession excited by a microwave magnetic field is transformed into a dc voltage due to the inverse spin Hall effect in the lutetium iron garnet/heavy metal heterostructure (Lu3Fe5O12/Pt). In the experiments carried out, the external magnetic field has been varied ...
