Реализация национальных английских концептов в сериале "Шерлок"
This work is devoted to the analysis of a modern film adaptation of the classic plot about Sherlock Holmes in the 2010 series "Sherlock" produced by the BBC for the realisation of English national concepts. For the study the term “concept” formulated by Yu.S. Stepanov was used, and articles on pointing out the most important aspects of the English national identity by Russian and foreign researchers in the field of intercultural communication and literary criticism were analyzed (by Zinnatullina Z.R., Hewitt K., Tsvetkova M.V., Featherstone S., Kumar K., McKillop AD, Medhurst A.). As a result, a number of national concepts were identified: «Home», «Privacy», «Responsibility», «Common sense», «Fair play», «Stiff-upper-lip», «Gentleman», «British humor», «Irony», «Wit», «Queen», «Royal», «Thatcher», «Bonfire Night». Their embodiment was further examined on the examples of characters and specific episodes from the four seasons of the popular British TV series.
