От пьянства к трезвости: как первое постсоветское поколение борется с алкогольной зависимостью
The study is aimed at identifying the practices and general strategies for quitting alcohol consumption by addicted people who were growing up during the perestroika and liberal reforms of the 90s. The sociological research is based on a qualitative
analysis of 40 autobiographies of reform generation representatives, published in the open press and selected in accordance with criterion sampling. At the stage of choosing in favor of sobriety, generational specificity manifests itself in the measure of independence of the decision made, where, despite the compromise between the desire to rely on others and show initiative, submission practices are implemented.
In the process of giving up alcohol, there is resistance to circumstances and, despite overcoming obstacles, the practices are characterized by firm intentions. In situations of relapse, the gained experience is analyzed and the further path is prudently adjusted, which constitutes the practice of balance. The sequence of practices at different stages of quitting alcohol in accordance with the selected criteria forms a prudence strategy. Thus, the strategy of combating alcohol addiction in the reform generation is characterized by compromise, persistent, prudent actions.
