The "Ready for labor and defense" complex played a major exceptional role in the USSR physical culture movement in the period 1930-1940. The young state needed millions of strong and courageous citizens, and there was a need to create a unified method of physical education that meets the new conditions for the development of the physical culture movement. The popularity of the TRP complex among the population of the Soviet country was huge. In 1931, 24 thousand athletes received TRP badges, in 1932 - 465 thousand, in 1933 - 835 thousand. By the mid-30s, the number of GTO badge holders reached 1.2 million. By the beginning of 1941, there were more than 62 thousand physical culture groups in the country, uniting more than 5 million physical culture students, the number of those who passed the standards of the Ready for work and defense complex I was more than 6 million people, TRP II-more than 100 thousand people. Millions of Soviet athletes, instructors, and teachers of physical culture institutes joined the ranks of the red Army, forming ski and reconnaissance battalions, partisan detachments, snipers, and paratroopers. As practice has shown, the militarization of mass sports in the 30s, its military-applied nature, and especially the introduction of TRP norms were not in vain.
