We analyzed the methods and means that were implemented by state authorities in the USSR in the period 1945-1991. Of the twentieth century. The relevance of the study is due to the need to intensify work on civil and Patriotic education of young people, as well as the implementation of tasks to improve the health of the General population of the country. Propaganda work in the field of physical culture movement led to the fact that the mid-1980s. in the USSR, a kind of "health industry" was formed, which included a whole network of large and small sports facilities, research institutions that developed scientific foundations for the development of physical culture and sports, and mass propaganda of physical culture knowledge. Today, more than ever, the state is facing issues of civil and Patriotic education of young people. The use of the diverse and successful experience of Soviet agitation and propaganda in the field of physical culture and sports in the preparation of a similar methodological set of measures in the Russian Federation is an urgent need.
