The article focuses on the concept of personalised learning within the framework of the digitalisation of education. The benefits and downsides of individual learning are described in the context of Russian educational systems. Mass open online courses are juxtaposed with personalised learning through IT-technologies. The article probes different experimental practices of personalisation on a number of levels: content, communication, motivation, and the organisation of online-education.
